This is a series of pinhole camera images exploring themes of neglect and abandonment. The subject is the TSMV Royal Iris, a cruise and ferry ship that was based at the River Mersey from the 1950s but is now laid up near the Thames Barrier just next to The Gate Darkroom. In its heyday the Royal Iris carried over 2,000 passengers and on-board amenities included a dancefloor and stage, tea room, buffet, cocktail bar, even a fish and chip saloon. At various times the Royal Iris hosted both the Beatles and the Queen.

Created by a homemade pinhole camera consisting of a cardboard box with a tiny hole for a lens, the unique inconsistencies are made possible by giving up the usual controls available in modern photographic techniques.
